| Abstract |
|
The coexistence of pheochromocytoma and renal artery stenosis has been recognized since 1958, but it is rare. We report a case of renovascular hypertension as- sociated with left adrenal pheochromocytoma. Renovas- cular hypertension was confirmed by aortogram and peripheral plasma renin activity and renal vein renin activities which was lateralized to the left kidney. It was suggested that catecholamines leakage from pheo- chromocytoma result in functional spasm of renal arter- y and renovascular hypertension. Surgical removal of the functional pheochromocytoma restored the pos- toperative plasma renin activity, uninary vanil- lylmandelic acid and blood pressure to normal. |
