| Abstract |

Erythrocytosis was seen in one man during mainte- nance hemodialysis therapy for end-stage renal disease. Nonrenal causes of erythrocytosis were excluded by appropriate clinical studies. A computed tomographic scan of the abdomen showd numerous renal cysts in a patient consistent acquired cystic disease of end-stage kidney. Peripheral serum erythropoietin level was nor- mal range as measured by sensitive radioimmunoassay and parathyroid level was slightly elevated. These find- ings suggest that acquired renal cyst and mild elevation of parathyroid hormone were associated with eryth- rocytosis in our case. |
