Abstract
Minimal change nephrotic syndrome comprises the majority of nephrotic syndrome in children and is gener- ally known to show good response to corticosteroid therapy. In the past, selective porotein index (SPI) was widely used as a predictive index for the therapeutic response of MCNS to corticosteroid. However, SPI in clinical use happened to fail its role in many cases. And as many of immunologic factors are considered to be involved in the pathogenesis of nephrotic syndrome, one of the immunoglobulins, namely IgE, became an interest to many clinicians. Fifty one biopsy proven MCNS patients who were admitted to Yonsei University Severance Hospital and Yong-Dong Severance Hospital from April, 1983 to December, 1986 were reviewed. There were no signifi- cant relationships found between serum IgE level and the degree of proteinuria (24hr urine protein), BUN, Cr, Ccr, the number of relapses, and other serum immunog-
