Abstract |
The immune system, especially disturbed T lym- phocyte function, has previo@usly been implicated in the pathogenesis of childhood idiopathic nephrotic syndrome. So, we tried to determine total concen- trations of IgG, A, M and IgG subclasses in sera of 13 childhood patients with nephrotic syndrome for searching the relationship between immunoglobulins levels and clinical status. Each measurement had been performed in nephrotic and remitted state. There were no significant difference in serum con- centrations of IgG, A, and M between nephrotic and remitted state. Although rneasurements of the IgG subclasses(1-4) in nephrotic state showed all to be depressed, compared to those in remitted state, only the serum level of IgG1 was significantly depressed (p<0.05). We also didn't find the pathogenetic rel- ationship between IgG subclasses concentrations and severe infections, including primary peritonitis developed in 4 nephrotic patients. This result discovered that serum concentrations of IgG subclasses in nephrotic state and remitted . State to be no different. Therefore, the depressed serum immunoglobulins in nephrotic patients may be caused by the decrease in the synthesis rather than urinary loss. |
