Abstract
34 uremic patients were surveyed for the preva- lence of HBV markers. To investigate the relati- onship between the cellular immune status of uremic patients and HBV infection, their T cell immunity was evaluated by studying parameter such as lymphocytes, T and B cells, Tm and Tg cells, T subset ratio, and lymphocyte transformation test. The results obtained were as follows: 1) In uremic patients, the numbers of lymphocy- tes, T and B cells, and Ta and T cells were reduced. 2) In uremic patients, the lymphocyte response after PHA(100mg/ml) stimulation was markedly reduced.3) The numbers of T and B cells were not different among 4 uremic patient groups. The percentages of T cells in patients with HBsAg were lower than in patients without HBV marker. 4) The numbers and percentages of Tm cells v ere not different 4 patient groups. The pecentages of Tg cells in patients with HBsAg or only anti- HBc were increased, as compared with those with anti-HBs or without HBV marker. 5) The lymphocyte response after PHA (100 mg/ ml) stimulation in patients with HBsAg was redu- ced, as compared with uremic patients with anti- HBs or normal controls.
