| Abstract |
|
To verify the action of heparin and protamine sulfate on peritoneal transport, we selected 20 patients on peritoneal dialysis and performed two consecutive 2- hour cycles with 1.5% dialysate solution. Neither the heparin nor protamine sulfate group showed any significant changes in peritoneal urea and creatinine clearances as well as in drainage volume, protein loss, and glucose absorption in comparison with the control group. We conclude that neither heparin nor protamine sulfate addition to the dialysate showed any significant changes on peritoneal solute transport. |
